We Didn't Expect Anything Else and Once Again Had the Opportunity to Confirm This: Erdogan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that he cannot call the recent statements from Israel and Iran regarding the Israeli strikes in Iranian territory truthful. At the same time, he accused the United States of supporting Israel, noting that nothing else was expected from Washington.
“Currently, Israel and Iran are saying different things. There is no accountability, no explanation. One cannot say that Iran is telling the truth based on its statements. The same cannot be said about Israel at all,” Erdogan told reporters in Istanbul.
According to Erdogan, the same can be addressed to the United States. “We see in the UN Security Council that America is acting on behalf of Israel. While everyone stands for Palestine, the US, judging by the latest statements, continues to side with Israel. We didn’t expect anything else, and once again, we had the opportunity to confirm this,” Erdogan noted.
Earlier, the Turkish Foreign Ministry called on both Israel and Iran to refrain from actions that could lead to an escalation of tensions into a permanent conflict. “In light of recent events, it is increasingly evident that the tension originally arising from Israel's illegal attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus could escalate into a permanent conflict. We call on all parties to refrain from actions that could lead to the expansion of the conflict,” the ministry stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
