Biden Suggests His Uncle's Body May Have Been Eaten by Cannibals
U.S. President Joe Biden has suggested that his uncle's body may have been eaten by cannibals during World War II. The president made this remark during an event in Pittsburgh, which was broadcast on YouTube by the White House. Biden arrived in Pittsburgh after visiting the Scranton Military Memorial, dedicated to American soldiers who went missing during the Second World War. The memorial features the name of Biden's uncle, Ambrose Finnegan.
“He was flying single-engine planes, conducting reconnaissance flights over New Guinea. He volunteered for service. He was shot down in New Guinea, where there were many cannibals at the time,” said the U.S. president. Biden added that Ambrose Finnegan's body was never found.
The name of Ambrose Finnegan is mentioned in a report by the Department of Defense’s Defense Finance and Accounting Service. The document states that Finnegan was sent to New Guinea on a courier flight in May 1944, and the aircraft crashed near the shore. Three of the four people on board were killed in the crash, while one crew member survived and was rescued. However, the next day, neither the downed plane nor the bodies of the victims were found.
