Pressure Will Continue: Sullivan

Washington will impose additional sanctions on Tehran in the coming days, targeting Iranian programs for the development of missiles and drones, as well as companies cooperating with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian Ministry of Defense.

This was stated in a written statement by Jake Sullivan, U.S. National Security Advisor, released by the White House press office. The document indicates that following an Iranian attack on Israel, U.S. President Joe Biden is working on a "comprehensive response" with allies and partners, including the G7 group and leaders of both parties in Congress.

Sullivan emphasized that the new sanctions and "other measures" would aim to restrain Iran, intended to "weaken its military capabilities and effectiveness" and would respond to a "full spectrum" of activities that the U.S. finds problematic. "The pressure will continue," Sullivan added, noting that over the past three years, more than 600 individuals and entities have faced U.S. sanctions against Iran.

"We will not stop taking measures in coordination with our allies and partners around the world and with Congress to hold the Iranian government accountable for its malign and destabilizing activities," the U.S. National Security Advisor emphasized.
