From Now On, Consider Me Deaf to Your Raised Questions: Avinyan

Member of the Yerevan City Council from the "National Progress" faction Kristina Vardanyan referenced the ongoing tree replacement works in the capital during her speech. She provided justification regarding the damages caused, stating that during discussions, scientists and experts presented the dangers of the project in terms of biodiversity and urban planning for public health and the environment.

Responding to this speech, Mayor Tigran Avinyan noted that if it weren't for Vardanyan's speech four years ago, which is a direct contradiction to this current address, he would believe in her sincerity. "Four years ago, you clearly, unequivocally, and very specifically stated that all plane trees in Yerevan should be replaced," he said. According to Avinyan, it is astonishing how much one can change their position 180 degrees.

"With all due respect, Mrs. Vardanyan, but I do not trust your sincerity," Avinyan added. He also mentioned, "The discussion we had, which your faction subsequently decided to boycott, consider me deaf to your raised questions from now on. The lack of trust, your 180-degree change in position, and your faction's endless manipulations on various issues, along with the lies that have been voiced, have created a situation where we are unable to hear the questions you raise."
