Video: Over 1400 Grams of Hash Oil Discovered in Imported Shipments to Armenia

The Department for Combating Smuggling of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia recently received operational information regarding three international express shipments containing narcotics entering the Republic of Armenia.

According to a statement from the SRC, employees from the Department for Combating Smuggling and the Division for Electronic Commerce and Air Transport conducted customs inspections at the customs control area of the cargo terminal at Zvartnots Airport on international express shipments imported from the USA via Global Shipping LLC. As a result, two shipments were found containing two containers each of hash oil, totaling 1195 grams.

In response to this smuggling incident, the operational intelligence division of the SRC commenced urgent operational and investigative measures, including actions for obtaining operational information and monitored delivery and procurement. Consequently, two international express shipments carrying similar substances instead of hash oil were seized following their immediate collection from the Arabkir service area of the GL obbing company, with H.N., a citizen of both Armenia and the USA, being arrested. Following a personal search accompanying the arrest, he was transferred to the Economic Crimes and Smuggling Investigation Division of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

Through the operational measures undertaken by the SRC’s operational intelligence division, it was revealed that the actual recipient of another international express shipment of narcotics, also imported via Global Shipping from the USA, was likewise H.N.

Upon realizing this information, employees from the SRC's departments for combating smuggling, electronic commerce, and air transport, along with the NSS’s main department for economic security and anti-corruption, inspected another international express shipment imported from the USA through the same company. Two polyethylene bags containing hash oil were found, weighing 105 grams.

Another shipment, imported from the USA under the name E.L., was also inspected, which similarly contained two polyethylene bags of hash oil weighing 105 grams. Operational and investigative measures revealed that the actual address of the four packages belonged to the arrested H.N.

Ongoing operational and investigative efforts by the SRC and the NSS are continuing to identify any other individuals involved in the illegal circulation of this narcotic substance. The discovered narcotics have a market value of approximately 70 million drams.

An investigation has been initiated under Article 399 of the Criminal Code of Armenia in the Economic Crimes and Smuggling Investigation Division of the Investigative Committee. H.N. has been detained. Note: A person accused of a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law as dictated by a court judgment that has entered into legal force.
