VIDEO: Water Level of Ural River in Orenburg Reaches Nearly 10 Meters Overnight

The water level of the Ural River in Orenburg rose by nearly 50 cm overnight, approaching 10 meters. This was reported by the city's deputy mayor, Alexey Kudinov. On the night of April 10, over 300 houses were flooded in the city, with 10 residents evacuated.

Hydrologists forecast that the Ural River will continue to rise. If the prediction holds, an additional 200 houses will be cut off from electricity and gas supply. The city's deputy mayor has urged residents to evacuate.

On the evening of April 9, due to the flooding, the water level in the Ural River near Orenburg exceeded the dangerous threshold of 9 meters. Governor Denis Pasler has called on Orenburg residents to evacuate from the flooded areas of the city. A federal-scale state of emergency has been declared in the Orenburg region since April 7.

There are about 500 temporary accommodation points set up across the region, capable of hosting more than 80,000 people. Yesterday, sirens sounded in several districts of Orenburg as a sign of extreme flood danger. City Mayor Sergey Salmin has warned that an emergency evacuation may be announced soon.
