Gunfire Resembles Movie Scene in Yerevan; One Injured
On April 5, gunshots rang out in Yerevan, according to shamshyan.com. Around 22:50, operational information was received by the Charbakh division of the Shengavit police department that between 22:30 and 22:50 that day, a group of individuals had engaged in an argument in a yard adjacent to building 35 on Shiraz Street, during which shots were fired from various firearms.
A search of the crime scene revealed 13 spent cartridges from a "Kalashnikov" rifle of 5.45 mm caliber and 3 cartridges from a "Makarov" type pistol with a 9 mm caliber. Criminal proceedings have been initiated.
According to sources, operational investigative and inquiry actions have determined that at 16:30 on April 5, 32-year-old David Khachatryan and 30-year-old Sargis Khachatryan, both residents of Yerevan, had an altercation with 24-year-old Karen Hovhannisyan from the Gegharkunik region, during which they physically assaulted him. Following this, Hovhannisyan, together with his friends—27-year-old Stepan Sargsyan, 26-year-old Michael Kalachyan, 28-year-old Haikaz Sargsyan, 24-year-old Narek Begoyan, 30-year-old Zebik Zakharov, 21-year-old Armen Galstyan, 23-year-old Gagik Beglaryan, 27-year-old Seryozha Poghosyan, Arthur Simonian, and others—spotted David Khachatryan around 22:30 near building 35 on Shiraz Street.
During the incident, Stepan Sargsyan, who was seated in the front passenger seat of a BMW, fired shots towards David Khachatryan and his friends using a gun he had with him. In retaliation, M. Petrosyan, a friend of Khachatryan, also shot at Sargsyan with a pistol, injuring him. While Hovhannisyan and his friends attempted to leave, Gor Israelian fired shots at Hovhannisyan and his group using an "AK" assault rifle.
Necessary operational, investigative, and joint measures are being taken to locate the individuals who committed the crime and the firearms used in the offense.
