Flagrant Errors and Absurd Situations in the Matemyan Family: 'Hraparak'
The internet is once again reveling in the Matemyan family, a fictional family that exists only in the imagination of Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasian and in the 5th grade mathematics textbook. This was reported by the newspaper 'Hraparak'.
Notably, all examples regarding the Matemyan family are food-related. Even in the 3rd-grade mathematics textbook, teachers have discovered glaring errors, such as 4x8 equating to 48 or 6:8 equating to 1. However, the more intriguing aspect is the content of the examples.
In the 5th-grade textbook, the Matemyan family – parents Adin and Budin, and children Gudin, Dubin, and Yegin – seem to irritate the parents rather than delight the children. One of the parents remarked that the dialogues and situations they find themselves in are absurd. For example: 'Mokin said he ate 2 kg of mandarins in 3 days, and I said I could eat 3 kg of mandarins in 2 days.' Another anecdote shared by a teacher noted that he once had a cream-fried mandarin,' reports the newspaper.
