VIDEO: The RA Customs Committee Prevents Illegal Transport of Large Quantities of Pharmaceuticals
The customs officials of the Northern Customs Department at the Bavra Customs Checkpoint and the Eastern Customs Department at the Bagratashen Customs Checkpoint have prevented illegal transport of large quantities of pharmaceuticals.
Recently, a passenger vehicle driven by E.N. arrived at the Bagratashen Customs Checkpoint from Georgia. During a preliminary inspection, the customs officer raised suspicions, prompting a directed x-ray inspection. The customs personnel discovered that the shells of the rear doors of the vehicle had been removed, which had been intact upon entry into Armenia. Packages were extracted from specially adapted concealed compartments within the doors.
The vehicle was rerouted for in-depth inspection, where the goods were examined, revealing that the concealed packages contained medications weighing a total of 21 kg, along with empty medication boxes weighing 3 kg.
Customs officials have drawn up a report on the violation of customs regulations in relation to this incident. The occurrence contains characteristics of violations of customs regulations as stipulated in Article 313 of the RA Law on Customs Regulation.
The officials at Bavra Customs have also uncovered attempts to illegally transport large quantities of pharmaceuticals through the Bavra state border checkpoint. Specifically, during the inspection of a vehicle traveling from Georgia to the Republic of Armenia, it was revealed that there was a specially designed hiding place between the rear seat and the cargo area, from which customs officials discovered 25 types of pharmaceuticals marked differently, weighing a total of 20 kg.
An administrative proceeding has been initiated based on the characteristics of Article 313 of the RA Law on Customs Regulation.
