Video: "Putin, Help Us" - People Gather in the Main Square of Oryol
Residents of Oryol, Russia have gathered in the city's main square to protest against local authorities and demand increased compensation following recent flooding. This information was reported by the Telegram channel BAZA.
More than a hundred locals assembled near the Lenin monument at Komsolmolskaya Square, chanting "Putin, help us" and expressing dissatisfaction with the actions of local authorities after the flood. Police are demanding that residents leave the square, declaring the gathering illegal. Local prosecutors had previously issued warnings regarding participation in such protests.
Oryol residents are also calling for an increase in compensation amounts. Currently, full property loss is compensated with 100,000 rubles (about $1,000), while partial loss is compensated with 50,000 rubles (about $500). However, locals argue that these amounts do not sufficiently cover expenses related to the flooding.
