Man Ties Up Foreign Woman in Yerevan, Withdraws Money from Her Card Before Partially Releasing Her
On April 3, at 4:45 PM, a 24-year-old foreign woman called the emergency service '911' to report a crime. The report was passed on to the Central Police Department, from where an operational team was dispatched to the specified address on Alek Manukyan Street.
The woman told law enforcement that an unknown man knocked on her door, introduced himself as a neighbor, approached her bathroom, then tied her up and demanded money. However, she replied that she had no cash. Following that, according to her account, the man took her bank card, tied her up, and went to withdraw money. Afterward, he returned, untied her hands but left her feet still bound before fleeing the scene.
Authorities initiated prompt measures, and the documents prepared were sent to the investigative department. With the assistance of officers from the Main and Yerevan City Departments of Criminal Police, the Central Police identified the perpetrator. As a result of joint operational-search activities, on April 4, at 11:55 AM, a 24-year-old suspect from Yerevan was discovered on Hrachya Kochar Street, apprehended on reasonable suspicion of robbery, and taken to the Central Police Department. The young man was presented to the investigative department, and the circumstances of the case are being clarified during the preliminary investigation.
