Samvel Topalyan Responds to Tigran Mansuryan

The management council and the acting staff of the "Goy" Theater have appealed to Nikol Pashinyan with a proposal to maintain "Goy" as a private theater. In this context, a petition has also been signed by cultural figures, including maestro Tigran Mansuryan.

However, today, Mr. Mansuryan stated in an interview with "Hraparak" that he does not understand what he is signing under and requests that his signature be considered withdrawn. "I didn’t know what I was signing. I was receiving calls from a young man asking for a meeting. It was a good opportunity, and after the concert at the Aram Khachaturian concert hall, when there were many people around me, actor Samvel Topalyan approached me, saying he was an actor from the 'Goy' theater. He presented his request joyfully and positively. I saw that it was something not particularly demanding. He presented a several-page detailed document that I did not want to read. Trusting the young man, I signed it. Later it became clear that there were numerous legal, organizational, and other issues within it that I not only was unaware of but also do not understand. To be honest, I do not want to get involved in all of this. My request is not to claim my signature made under the influence of the moment or consider it withdrawn," he said.

“Hraparak” contacted actor Samvel Topalyan, who had presented the petition to Mansuryan for signing, to inquire about the story of that signature. Topalyan clarified that he had made it very clear what the signature was for. "I called Mr. Mansuryan, informing him that my request is related to the 'Goy' Theater, we want to write a letter to the Prime Minister asking to allow 'Goy' Theater to continue operating as a private theater in its territory, meaning we do not wish to be state-funded. Tigran Mansuryan said it was no problem; I will sign. I do not know how Mr. Mansuryan was presented with the content of the document. I will talk to him," Topalyan stated.
