There Are No Political Prisoners in Armenia, Says Justice Minister

There are no political prisoners in Armenia. This was stated by Justice Minister Grigor Minasyan during a press briefing following a government meeting, responding to a journalist's observation that the opposition claims there are political prisoners in the country after recent arrests.

“Armenia is a democratic country to the extent that every day you open social networks and see how many opposition members and their lawyers express satisfaction with this or that decision as a fair ruling,” he said.

The Minister stated that whether an official is current or former, the reality is that everyone in Armenia should know and understands that there are no insiders or outsiders. If a person is suspected of a crime, law enforcement agencies take relevant actions.
