Important Message Sent to the US Government: Iranian Foreign Minister
The employee of the Swiss embassy, acting as the representative of US interests in Iran, was summoned to the country’s foreign ministry following an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. This was announced by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on his X social media account (formerly Twitter).
According to the Iranian Foreign Minister, during the meeting, the Swiss embassy employee was explained the scale of the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, and the responsibility of the US in this incident was emphasized.
"An important message has been sent to the US government, as a supporter of the Israeli regime. The US must be held accountable," wrote the Iranian Foreign Minister.
On April 1, the SANA agency reported that Israeli air forces struck a residential building in Damascus. Later, Iranian media reported that the Iranian consulate building, located on Mezze street in the western part of the Syrian capital, had come under fire. According to Iran's ambassador to the Arab Republic, Hossein Akbari, 5-7 people were killed as a result of the attack. Furthermore, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported the deaths of seven military advisors, including Generals Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, along with five other officers.
