We think, what will Moscow think? Let them think whatever they want, says MP from CP

Azerbaijan is holding meetings with the presidents of Turkey, Pakistan, and Russia, but we do not regard this with jealousy. This was stated by Gagik Melkonyan, a member of the National Assembly from the Civil Contract party, in an interview with NEWS.am, referring to Azerbaijan's claim that the upcoming meeting in Brussels between Prime Minister Pashinyan, Secretary of State Blinken, and Ursula von der Leyen is biased and based on double standards, which will create new dividing lines in the region.

“Whoever they want to meet, have we ever made a statement that these meetings are against us? For example, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Russia had a phone conversation, and we are not interested in that, while we are convinced that they are setting traps against us. But we do not make statements. However, whenever we want to meet with the leader of any country, the noise from Russia comes out, and Azerbaijan's noise is even louder. Why? We go to meet to solve our economic issues, and we need to address our country's security problems. We should meet with our allies,” he stated.

“We have learned that whenever we are solving a problem for ourselves, we always think about how Russia will react to this, what they will think of us. Let them think whatever they want, whether it's the Azerbaijanis or the Russians. We should prioritize our country's national interests over those of all other countries. I expect that economic issues will be resolved in that meeting. I would be happy if those countries could also finance us so that we can develop our economy and move towards European standards, so that they do not say that you are only sending raw materials to Russia, that's why you are only connected to the RF,” Melkonyan announced.

According to him, Armenia must be competitive in the world to be able to solve its problems.
