A massive protest took place near the Knesset (parliament) building in Jerusalem, demanding early elections in Israel and the prompt release of hostages in the Gaza Strip, reports Kan Radio. Ynet portal notes that this is the largest demonstration in the Jewish state since the beginning of the war in Gaza, which started with Hamas militants' attack on October 7, 2023.

According to The Jerusalem Post, over 100,000 people gathered at the Knesset. The portal reported that they set up "dozens of tents" near the parliamentary complex, intending to continue the protest throughout the week.

The Jerusalem Post also mentioned that several other protests in Jerusalem have called for the quick release of hostages and the holding of early elections. One of these protests occurred near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office, coinciding with his press conference.

Additionally, dozens of activists began blocking roads in two neighborhoods of the city, after which the police declared these actions illegal and used special measures to remove the protesters from the streets. The police press service reported that one person was detained for breaching public order in Jerusalem.
