Ukrainian Security Service Files Charges Against Margarita Simonyan

The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) has filed new charges against Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of RT television, in absentia. This was reported by the agency's Telegram channel. The information was relayed by TASS.

Simonyan is accused under several articles of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, including genocide, violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity, propaganda of military actions, as well as justification, legalization, and denial of Russian actions, which are regarded in Ukraine as "aggression," and glorification of participants in the special military operation.

In March 2022, Irina Venediktova, who was then the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, announced that charges had been brought against Simonyan under the article of Ukraine's Criminal Code concerning the financing of actions aimed at "forcibly seizing power" or "changing the country’s borders."
