The Attacker on 'Crocus' Has Ties to Tajik Extremists in Turkey
Faridun Shamsiddin, who attacked the 'Crocus City Hall', is associated with Tajik extremists residing in Turkey. This has been reported by Sputnik Tajikistan, citing its sources.
"Earlier this year, he traveled to Istanbul. His friends raised many questions about his trip to Turkey. It was during this time that he began to show signs of extremism in conversations with relatives and friends, although he claimed he was there with friends and wished to work there," said a source from the publication.
He also noted that after Shamsiddin's statements during the interrogations, 40 people were arrested in Turkey on suspicion of having connections with the 'Islamic State' terrorist group. At the same time, the source emphasized that the terrorist might have received necessary training from mentors who fought in Afghanistan and Syria during his trip.
