EU Mission in Armenia Turning into NATO Mission, Lavrov Says
The European Union mission in Armenia is transforming into a NATO mission, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in an interview with Izvestia.
“Currently, military personnel are still being deployed from Norway, Canada, and the United States, turning the EU mission into a mission of the North Atlantic Alliance,” he said.
Lavrov recalled that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in 2021, called for an EU peacekeeping mission instead of a CSTO mission, promising Azerbaijan that it would last only two months. “And two months later, disregarding Azerbaijan, the EU doubled that mission,” noted the Russian minister.
“The entire history of the last few years is being distorted both by Mr. Pashinyan and his staff, and by the leadership of the Armenian Parliament,” the Russian Foreign Minister stated.
