Putin Says What Could Have Prevented the Ukraine Conflict
The conflict in Ukraine would not have occurred had Russia's security interests been taken into account after the collapse of the USSR, stated Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with military pilots. The information was reported by TASS.
“If our interests in the field of security were simply taken into account, which we had been discussing year after year, essentially decade after decade,” Putin said.
According to him, the West has always ignored Russian interests. He added that NATO has “approached” Russian borders.
Previously, Putin called absurd the claims that Russia intends to go to war against NATO. The president drew attention to the incomparable levels of defense spending between the U.S. and Russia. Putin also noted the superior performance of Russian military aviation during the special military operation, emphasizing that pilots contribute significantly to achieving overall results.
