The U.S. Disagrees with Azerbaijan's Claims: Matthew Miller

The United States does not agree with the Azerbaijani claims that the high-level meeting between Armenia, the EU, and the U.S. to be held in Brussels on April 5 could destabilize and escalate the situation in the South Caucasus. This was stated by U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller during a press briefing in response to a journalist's question regarding Azerbaijan's assertion that the upcoming Armenia-EU-U.S. meeting is exclusive and could prompt Armenia to destabilize the situation in the region. Azerbaijan claimed that the U.S. and the EU would share responsibility for any potential escalation that follows the meeting.

“I clearly wouldn't agree with those comments. The focus of this meeting is economic resilience, which will help Armenia diversify its trade partnerships and address humanitarian needs. I fail to see how this could lead to escalation or concern any country in the world,” he said.
