Nagorno-Karabakh MP Comments on Pashinyan's Statement
The government of Nagorno-Karabakh is not a replacement for the current authorities of Armenia. As for the claim that the government of Nagorno-Karabakh poses a danger, it is a manipulation; Nagorno-Karabakh has never been a threat to Armenia. This was stated by Davit Galstyan, head of the "Justice" faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh and co-founder of the NGO "Justice and Return," in an interview with Tert.am, commenting on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement during today’s government session that certain groups forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh are carrying out actions that threaten Armenia's national security.
"The legislative body of Nagorno-Karabakh continues its activities, and during this time we have made changes to laws regarding pensions for displaced individuals. We remember several official letters when inquiries were made to both the government and the Central Bank regarding this legislative proposal, and they stated that they were not authorized to address the issue and that one should refer to the state bodies of Artsakh," he said.
According to Galstyan, this means that the state bodies of Artsakh are operational.
Referring to Pashinyan’s statement that there can be no other government in Armenia besides the Armenian government, Davit Galstyan said, "When they talk about the absence of another government in Armenia, of course, there is one government, which is the Armenian Government, while the representation of Artsakh has executive and legislative bodies that are engaged in protecting our right to return to Artsakh, hoping to ensure unification so that we can one day return to Artsakh."
Galstyan asserts that this government is not a replacement for the current authorities.
"As for the claim that the Artsakh authorities pose a danger, that is manipulation; Artsakh has never been a threat to Armenia, and I do not find it appropriate to comment on a person who has provided more than ten contradictory statements in the last month, manipulating the Armenian nation," he stated.
When asked what kind of threats Pashinyan was referring to in today’s session, Galstyan replied: "He said, ‘Artsakh is Armenia, period.’ Aren’t these contradictory statements? If we interpret one of Pashinyan’s statements, he can make a 180-degree change tomorrow that contradicts today’s statement. Pashinyan acknowledges that he is the main responsible for the Nagorno-Karabakh war, but claims he is not guilty. Perhaps he spoke this way to maintain power, and I cannot comment on that. Since 2020, I am convinced that any statement made by Nikol Pashinyan is aimed at prolonging his rule; otherwise, such statements would not resonate with a rational person.”
