Video: There Are Lands in Tavush That Are Expected to Be Returned to Us, Says Sanosyan
In the Tavush region, there are lands that, according to these maps, are expected to be returned to us. This statement was made today, March 27, during a press briefing with reporters in the National Assembly by Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan. He was responding to the question of why the demarcation and delimitation processes are being conducted starting from Tavush, rather than, for example, from Jermuk, where Armenian territories are occupied.
The minister noted that there are currently no decisions regarding the return of four villages. “This concerns the work of the respective commissions of both countries aimed at the delimitation and demarcation process between the two countries. There is dynamics; meetings are taking place, and the parties return to their respective sides. It is a process, and I do not know when the next meeting will be,” stated the minister, adding that they are currently in the legal and documentary phase, after which the actual delimitation process will occur on the ground.
According to Sanosyan, the uncertainty felt by the local population is due to “some individuals trying to spread ambiguous and unclear information.”
“The Prime Minister's idea has been very clear: he may even attend the next meeting if there is any news or change that he can express. Since there is no decision or change, there may not be a need for a meeting every day. However, there are regularly scheduled meetings either in Vayk or at the governor's office for clarifications,” he said.
Minister Sanosyan mentioned that there are areas with infrastructure issues and areas without.
“In areas close to the border, there are infrastructures—there may be a village's water pipeline or gas pipeline. Now we need to understand after the delimitation process where the border guards will stand—close to each other or somewhat far, will a neutral zone emerge or not? If a neutral zone emerges, will there be infrastructure in that area or not? Currently, there is clear organizational work that consists of several factors, and each department has instructions to ensure that these two neighboring countries go through this process and address any emerging issues,” he stated.
The minister emphasized that no house located in the territory of Armenia can end up in another jurisdiction as a result of the delimitation.
Sanosyan highlighted that the foundation of the entire process is built on the principle of peace.
