Russian Soldier Shot by Comrade at 102nd Military Base: What Happened During Weapon Acceptance
It has been reported to Armlur.am that a soldier of the 102nd Russian military base has died from a gunshot fired by a comrade. According to information received by the media, the incident occurred during a weapon acceptance handover, and preliminary assessments suggest the shot was accidental.
At around 14:00, a 22-year-old Russian soldier, Roman Shatjernikov, was transferred to the Gyumri Medical Center with a fatal gunshot wound. Armen Khachatryan, the deputy director of Gyumri Medical Center, told Azatutyun that the soldier was already dead upon arrival, with gunshot wounds present on his neck and left side of the torso.
According to reports, military exercises are taking place at the Kamkhuty training ground. The circumstances under which the Russian soldier sustained the fatal gunshot wound remain unclear at this time. The 102nd military base regularly conducts combat exercises at the Kamkhuty training ground. Since this area is not marked off with barriers, residents of neighboring villages have been grazing their livestock there when exercises are not in session, having been deprived of their pastures.
In this area, three people from the village of Vahramaberd have already died from mine explosions, two of whom were children.
