Video: Helicopter Deployed to Rescue Tourists Affected by Avalanche in Kamchatka

A Mi-8 helicopter from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has taken off from the Elizovsky municipal area to rescue tourists affected by an avalanche in Kamchatka, according to the ministry's press service.

"The Mi-8 helicopter is evacuating tourists in Kamchatka. The aircraft took off from the Elizovsky municipal area to rescue those struck by the avalanche at the Krasnoarmeysky mountain pass," the statement said.

It was reported that the tourists have now reached the Semyonovskuyu cordon, located four kilometers from the incident site, accompanied by rescuers. The helicopter will transport them to the airport, from where the affected individuals will be transferred to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Recall that yesterday, a group of tourists in Kamchatka became trapped under an avalanche. The incident occurred in the Elizovsky area of Kamchatka. According to the agency, a group of 11 tourists had come for a skiing trip in the Krasnoarmeysky mountain pass. They were walking along the mountain range when the avalanche struck them after strong winds. The ministry's report noted that everyone managed to get out except for two members of the group.
