No One Can Be Sure That the U.S. Will Come to Their Aid in Case of Possible Attack: Borrell

The decision to provide assistance to Ukraine should not be delayed by Western countries, as the outcome of the military conflict between Moscow and Kyiv will be determined in the coming months—"this spring, this summer, before the start of autumn," said Josep Borrell, the head of European diplomacy, during his visit to Washington.

“The next few months will be decisive,” he told reporters (quoted by AFP) and added, “Whatever is to be done, it must be done quickly.”

“Many analysts expect a major Russian offensive this summer, and Ukraine cannot wait for the results of the next U.S. elections,” Borrell stated. According to the European diplomacy chief, if Russia succeeds, “it will have huge consequences for America and the system of alliances constructed around the U.S. and Europe.” In such a case, he believes that no one among Washington’s allies can be sure that the U.S. will come to their aid in a possible attack.
