Armenia Ready to Seek Solutions Along the Entire Border, Including the Most Problematic Areas Adjacent to Tavush
Is Armenia ready to return four non-enclaved villages to Azerbaijan without starting the actual delimitation process, as Baku demands? In response to a written question sent by "Azatutyun" at the beginning of the week, the government stated today that it is necessary to determine where Armenia's territory begins in the areas in question.
Baku names four villages: Baghanis Ayru, Aghashaskipara, Kheyrimly, and Ghiizlhajili. According to the government, this determination must be made based on legally binding documents.
"Accordingly, de jure, Armenia's territory should be under the jurisdiction and control of the Republic of Armenia, while Azerbaijan's territory should be under the jurisdiction and control of the Republic of Azerbaijan," the government stated, emphasizing that Armenia is ready to seek such solutions along the entire border.
"Armenia is also prepared to pursue similar solutions in the most problematic areas related to the Tavush region," the executive branch further added.
Regarding exclaves/non-enclaves, in this case, Armenia finds the approach of considering their issue later more understandable, again based on the premise of delimiting and demarcating those areas on the basis of de jure legal documents.
In response to the media's written question, they also referred to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement during yesterday's press conference, where he said that Armenia does not have claims to any territory beyond its internationally recognized borders but also cannot hand over its own sovereign territory.
