I Realized That If We Do Not Formally Establish This Agreement, Nothing Will Hinder the Resolution of Armenia's Situation: Pashinyan

We understood that the forces attacking Armenia were claiming that we, as a pro-Russian country, were also fighting against Russia, and the West was using this narrative against us. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press conference today.

“We came to the CSTO and told our esteemed colleagues, it is not enough that you are not fulfilling your role as guarantors of our security. Now, in the West's perception, it’s not us who are being attacked, but you are. Officially, it’s stated that we are not attacking Armenia, but rather Russia's outpost. They are the ones being attacked, such is the rhetoric, the CSTO is under attack,” said Pashinyan.

He continued, saying, “We were told that no one had attacked us, that it was still unknown who was attacking whom. It remains unclear what territory you refer to as occupied, many things are still unknown, and it is still unclear who our friends are and who are not. You are blaming our friends for these matters. Just a moment, what about the contract, what about the red line?”

Pashinyan revealed that on October 6, 2022, he realized that if they did not formally establish this agreement, nothing would hinder the resolution of Armenia's situation because that is the plan, and there are no other questions. “The issue of Karabakh has long been resolved; now they want to dismantle our state under the guise of friendly toasts,” he asserted.

According to him, the evidence of this assertion lies in September 2022. “When did Prague happen? On October 6, 2022, when it became clear that if we did not place our hope solely on ourselves, we would lose our state. Today, I am reiterating the same message; it is my duty.”

Pashinyan suggested that perhaps it would have been better if he had announced in 2019 that they should return to the language of the 1996 Lisbon document, stating that their benchmark should be the autonomy of Karabakh within Azerbaijan. “But who would have had the nerve to say such a thing? Objectively, a statesman should come and say this. There would have been consequences as all exits for the Republic of Armenia have been and continue to be traps. Beautiful, colorful flowers, and without flowers, but traps. That is why political thought should be mobilized,” he concluded.
