Gagik Sargsyan Arrested in Connection with Explosives Found Near the KPP Office

Gagik Sargsyan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, has been arrested in connection with the placement of explosives near the office of the ruling My Step Alliance, specifically at the residence of MP Gagik Melkonyan. The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Hovhannes Avagyan, partially granted the investigator's request to detain Sargsyan as a preventive measure, remanding him for one month.

This information was provided to Factinfo by lawyer Vahe Yeprikyan.

It should be noted that on March 13, officers of the National Security Service conducted a raid on Gagik Sargsyan's home, and according to his son, they searched the house thoroughly before arresting him. Later, it became known that Gagik Sargsyan was arrested in connection with the discovery of explosive materials near the KPP office, an incident which the Investigative Committee has classified as a terrorist act. Three other individuals are also being prosecuted in this case, two of whom have already been remanded in custody as a preventive measure.

Gagik Sargsyan's attorney, Vahe Yeprikyan, stated that Sargsyan does not acknowledge the charges against him, adding that the accusations are highly abstract and clearly do not meet procedural criteria. Specifically, it is unclear what specific actions Sargsyan is alleged to have undertaken in the context of this crime, while the headline of the Investigative Committee's press release, claiming that 'terrorist incidents have been uncovered,' is grossly exaggerated.
