China's Security Situation Becoming Increasingly Unstable, Says Defense Ministry Representative
Uncertainty in China's security sector is growing, with serious issues related to separatism, and the country's military problems are complex and diverse. This was stated by Wu Qian, the official representative of China's Ministry of National Defense, while commenting on the government's plans to increase the military budget by 7.2% in 2024. The information is reported by TASS.
"The situation concerning the internal anti-separatist struggle is complex and serious; the security situation in China is becoming increasingly unstable and uncertain. The issues of military struggle are complicated and varied," Wu told reporters.
He emphasized that national defense is a guarantee of the country's security, survival, and development, closely linked to the well-being of the people. "China's defense expenditures are open, transparent, reasonable, and appropriate," he highlighted.
"The Chinese government is committed to the principle of systematic development of national defense construction and economic construction, and rationally determines the scale of national defense expenditures," he stated, adding that compared to military powers like the United States, China's defense expenditures are relatively small.
