Houthi Attacks in the Red Sea Cause Massive Communication Disruptions

Massive communication disruptions have been reported between Africa, Asia, and Europe due to attacks by Houthis on four internet cables in the Red Sea. This was announced by Hong Kong-based supplier HGC Global Communications Limited.

"Approximately 15% of traffic from Asia is directed westward, and 80% of this traffic passes through the underwater cables of the Red Sea," HGC stated in its announcement.

Reports indicate that the Houthi attacks have caused widespread outages on major sites, including YouTube, Google, Facebook, and Instagram.

The company mentioned that it is already taking measures to mitigate the consequences, specifically by diversifying the affected routes.

Previously, we reported that mass outages had occurred in Armenia and other countries while accessing the social media platforms Facebook and Instagram.
