Former Chief of the General Staff to be Questioned in the 'Chemists' Case

According to the information from the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper, the former Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Onik Gasparyan, will also be summoned for questioning by the anti-corruption court regarding the case of missing servicemen from the 'Chemists' military unit in Ejmiatsin. He has already been interrogated and testified during the pre-investigation stage of this criminal case, and therefore the court will also summon him for questioning.

For some time now, the parents of the missing or deceased servicemen have been testifying in the anti-corruption court regarding the case of missing servicemen from the 'Chemists' military unit. The accused in this case include former Deputy Chief of the General Staff Andranik Makaryan and other officials from the military unit.

Andranik Makaryan has been charged under part 3 of Article 376 of the Armenian Criminal Code. This article stipulates negligence in relation to duty, and actions defined under its first or second parts, if committed during a state of martial law, war, or in combat conditions, are punishable by imprisonment for a term of four to eight years. A preventive measure has been chosen for Andranik Makaryan in the form of a signature prohibiting him from leaving the country,” writes the newspaper.
