Expectations from Armenia-Azerbaijan Negotiations Are Not Encouraging: Ohanyan
Expectations from the outcomes of the Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations are not encouraging. This was stated by Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the 'Armenia' parliamentary faction, during a press briefing, commenting on whether Germany could be a good mediator in the Yerevan-Baku negotiations and bring Ilham Aliyev to a constructive dialogue.
He emphasized that any negotiation is more acceptable than military actions. Ohanyan reminded that the negotiation process has been unsuccessful since 2018, and in 2020, the Armenian side faced war.
'Azerbaijan's authorities constantly insist that they do not need any mediator, trying to exert pressure on Armenia, but on the other hand, they cunningly use both the Western platform and the post-Soviet one. In the West, we have friendly countries, but they can only perform an observational mission. I think expecting any results from these negotiations globally is not very encouraging,' Ohanyan noted.
It should be recalled that the negotiations between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan began in Berlin on February 28 and continued on February 29.
