Peskov Comments on Macron's Statement

The statement by French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the sending of military personnel to Ukraine forces Russia to remain vigilant. This was announced by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President.

"European politicians lack the instinct for self-preservation. This obliges Russia to be vigilant," said Dmitry Peskov, as reported by RIA Novosti.

Previously, Macron had spoken in favor of sending NATO troops to Ukraine. Several European leaders disagree with this stance. Later, the French Ministry of Defense clarified that Macron meant sending military personnel to operate in the rear.

Peskov noted that many countries do not realize the danger of conflict with Russia.

Additionally, serious disagreements have arisen between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron regarding assistance to Ukraine. The 'Politico' newspaper reports that they cannot come to an agreement on the supply of weapons.

Berlin is unwilling to transfer 'Taurus' missiles to Kyiv, while Paris had previously committed to sending its SCALP winged missiles to Ukraine. Another source of contention has been the issue of sending troops to the Russian border. For instance, Scholz has repeatedly stated that NATO will not become a party in the conflict in Ukraine, and German troops will not be sent there.

The French leader also considered the possible deployment of Western troops to Ukraine, but this idea has faced criticism. Scholz is also dissatisfied that Germany has provided more assistance to Kyiv than France. According to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, Germany's assistance during the special operation has reached €17.7 billion, while France has only allocated €635 million.
