I Do Not Rule Out That an Agreement Exists Between Azerbaijan and Russia: Alen Simonyan

We are not physically strong, we cannot resist, especially since our ally, who should protect us, at best does not defend us, if not engaged in a joint process. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, during a briefing with journalists at the Parliament.

“I am confident that there has been a joint process for a long time, and I am sure that the war in Ukraine began with the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. Here it was necessary to obtain an alternative route to avoid possible sanctions, which is now being done. For instance, Azerbaijan is currently selling Russian gas to Europe through its pipelines; that is a fact,” he said.

To a journalist's question about whether he hints at an agreement between Russia and Azerbaijan, Simonyan replied: “I do not rule out that such an agreement has existed, because when you combine the facts, it becomes clear that everything is interconnected. I can even say that it started from Syria; do you remember the Russian-Turkish clash in Syria, which then shifted to our region? An attempt was made here to ensure stability, to put a noose around the necks of both Azerbaijan and Armenia, but the plans were disrupted, Turkey entered, and I do not rule out the possibility of a Russian-Turkish agreement.”
