Alen Simonian Makes Another Dangerous and Irrational Statement: Artak Beglaryan

The Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonian, has made another dangerous and irrational statement. This characterization comes from Artak Beglaryan, the former Prime Minister of Artsakh and former Human Rights Defender, in reference to Simonian's statements made on February 27.

During his statement, Alen Simonian remarked that Armenia is willing to withdraw its claims presented to the European Court of Human Rights only if Azerbaijan also renounces its claims. Beglaryan responded, saying, "Without going into detail about how baseless Azerbaijan's claims against Armenia are, I will just say that this latest act of relinquishing our collective and individual rights will lead to new tragedies. No self-respecting people or state can abandon their natural rights and truth, especially for the sake of nothing and the satisfaction of a genocidal dictator."

The former Human Rights Defender of Artsakh is confident that the claims presented by the Armenian side against Azerbaijan will be successful. He believes that Aliyev fears this outcome.

He emphasizes that the Armenian authorities not only need to refrain from such actions, statements, and intentions, but also should present new claims based on the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide and the Rome Statute.
