VIDEO: Russian Skiers Caught in Avalanche in India, Fatality Reported

A Russian skier has died in the mountains of India after being caught in an avalanche. Preliminary reports indicate that the individual died from asphyxiation and was not retrieved from under the snow in time. There were also six others in the group. This was reported by SHOT.

This morning, seven Russians were skiing at the Gulmarg ski resort in the Himalayas when the avalanche occurred. A group of skiers, accompanied by local residents, had ventured onto the slopes when the avalanche struck. While seven Russian athletes remained trapped under the snow, six others managed to escape and get out from under the snow. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed.
