Armenia Ready to Participate in EU Civilian Missions: National Security Council Secretary

Armenia is ready to participate in the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy civilian missions. This was stated by the Secretary of the Armenian Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, during an event dedicated to the one-year anniversary of the observer mission in Yerevan.

“In our assessment, the mission contributes to stability in the region and is an important factor in ensuring transparency regarding current events. We consider it unacceptable to hear unfounded criticism of the mission from various countries and support the mission in fully implementing its mandate,” he said.

According to the Security Council Secretary, Armenia does not want to be merely a consumer of security. “In this context, Armenia has informed Brussels that Yerevan is ready to contribute to the EU's Civilian Missions under the Common Security and Defence Policy,” Grigoryan noted.

The Secretary of the Security Council added that while previous cooperation with the EU was focused on economic and institutional reforms, today, Armenian-EU cooperation has expanded to include security as a vital direction of partnership. “We regard the EU and its member states as important partners for the diversification of Armenia’s security and economy,” he emphasized.
