VIDEO: Protest by Relatives of Fallen Soldiers from 44-Day War Near Government Building
Members of the "Union of Relatives of Soldiers Killed and Missing in the Artsakh Third War" are demanding the transfer of their fallen loved ones' graves to Armenia, as well as solutions to their housing issues. They are protesting near the building of the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
The relatives of the fallen soldiers received a certificate for the purchase of a home as compensation in 2020. They were given the option to buy housing either in Artsakh or Armenia. Many purchased homes in Artsakh and now find themselves homeless. Others have not been able to buy a home in Armenia due to a sharp rise in real estate prices.
“The compensation programs for the fallen expire in March, but we are not being offered anything new. We want a differentiated approach. We want these families to be valued, considering that they have given their most precious thing,” said the organization's president, Armen Asryan.
The relatives of the fallen soldiers do not even want to hear about offers to purchase homes in the border regions of Armenia. They hope that their children will at least have a safe childhood, away from the sounds of gunfire.
Six parents entered the government building hoping to meet with the Prime Minister's office.
