Georg Altunyan is Free
The former head of the Ministry of Defense's information and public relations department, Georg Altunyan, has been released, as a court has rejected the extension of his house arrest for another two months. This was announced to Aysor.am by Altunyan's attorney, Siranuş Sahakyan.
The decision was made by Judge Vahe Dolmazyan of the Anti-Corruption Court. Siranuş Sahakyan noted that Georg Altunyan is subject to bail and has signed a pledge not to leave the country.
The lawyer also pointed out that the legality of Altunyan's detention is being contested, and a complaint has been filed with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
It is important to mention that Georg Altunyan and four others, including Suren Aloyan, the founder of Dasaran.am website, are accused of embezzling 106.3 million AMD from the state by placing false information in the procurement documents of the Ministry of Defense.
