Samvel Shahramanyan Discusses the Arrest of His Bodyguard
The President of Artsakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, stated in a conversation with reporters that he received a notification from the Anti-Corruption Committee on February 20. He noted, "It is mentioned there that they received my letter addressed to the Prosecutor General of Armenia in November 2023, where I stated that there have been violations against the citizens of Artsakh, mainly in the financial sector, and I requested that my letter be accepted as a report of a crime. As a result of examining these facts, they initiated a criminal proceeding, and within that framework, they invited me to be questioned as a witness."
He emphasized that obtaining answers to these issues is crucial and that if there are guilty parties, they must be punished: "We are talking about various violations." Regarding the drugs found in his bodyguard's vehicle, Shahramanyan stated, "I would ask the relevant law enforcement agencies to resolve the matter of releasing Ashot Danielyan in a very short period because this case is fabricated. We have all witnessed this. The legality of that arrest raises major questions—arresting an individual connected to the President of Artsakh in the center of the city with 20 masked individuals and from a vehicle serving the President raises numerous questions, and we will receive answers to those questions soon. All this is related to attempts to ‘cover up’ everything connected with Artsakh and close that issue, but one should not follow that path; solutions must be found for the issues of Artsakh and its citizens. In my opinion, if this issue does not receive a just resolution, we will have this open wound that will always bleed."
It should be noted that yesterday the President of Artsakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, was invited for questioning by the Anti-Corruption Committee.
