That Train Has Left, It Cannot Be Stopped: Pashinyan
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, stated at a governmental meeting that a new technology may emerge tomorrow, and unfortunately, it could become evident that there are no experts in Armenia to explain what that technology is.
“I don’t know if it’s shameful to admit this, but I must say: since 2018, the issue of digitization has been on our agenda, and I have held dozens of consultations with the aim of asking our experts to explain what digitization is and for what purpose it serves. I’ll say ten, you will understand twenty. After all these consultations, with all due respect, I left dazed and realizing that I still didn’t understand anything,” he stated.
The Prime Minister shared that they eventually decided to find out which country leads in the field of digitization, and upon discovering that Estonia was the answer, they invited experts from there. “Those people came, sat down, and I asked them: explain to me what digitization is. Within an hour, those people clarified what digitization means, and I had no further questions, nor did the attendees; this is a reality,” he emphasized.
He also brought up the example of the Academic City. “There, we quickly realized that we needed to skip 22 consultations, edit them, and as a result of just a few consultations, I hope our colleagues will put the project on a track that if we wish to not implement it, we will be unable to because the train has already left. The Academic City train has left, and it cannot be stopped, and this is the working method. We want to tear everything from its place; we pull and tug at it, but in the end, we can’t even pull out the carrot,” he elaborated.
