VIDEO: Why are State Institutions in Meghri and Vardenis Being Reduced? Pashinyan Responds
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, visited the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs yesterday to discuss its activity report for 2023. This information was reported by the Prime Minister's Office.
Pashinyan addressed the optimization of the territorial subdivisions of the Migration and Citizenship Service based on the presented map, stating: “This is our optimization map. The red points are being optimized, and the blue points are being preserved. And why is this important? Because there are many speculations surrounding this process right now. When the Meghri court was being optimized, it caused political speculation, and now our colleagues are doing the same regarding Vardenis. Now, I want everyone to see this map. Vayk, Ararat, Nor Hachyn, which means we have optimization in practically all areas, including in the Syunik, Vayots Dzor, and Gegharkunik regions, as well as in Yerevan. And as I mentioned in the context of the court at the Ministry of Justice, our reform processes cannot be halted due to such speculations.
We have discussed this topic with the Minister of Internal Affairs, and I know there is an idea that if we observe problematic moments during the optimization process and before the launch of digitalization processes, we will have mobile offices with a specific schedule in all our regions or communities. It is already a matter of organizing work to ensure accessibility. But overall, our strategic vision is related to digitalization. Generally, why should a person wait in line for such procedures? They should be able to carry out the process from their home or workplace. And also, why are we implementing this program? This is proof that we believe and are determined to realize digitalization. There is no turning back, and we must proceed and definitely implement this function.”
