A Statue of Charles Aznavour to Be Erected in Front of Moscow Cinema

In 2024, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Charles Aznavour's birth. On this occasion, a jubilee commission has been formed under the leadership of Arayik Harutyunyan, the head of the Prime Minister's Office, which has already approved a list of events.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia is also collecting creative ideas and concepts that may be included in the program of the jubilee events. Proposals should contain the title of the project, the name of the organization, a brief description of the content, and the anticipated amount of funding. The deadline for submission is March 22.

As part of the jubilee events for Charles Aznavour's 100th anniversary, the Yerevan Municipality has announced an open competition for the design of a monument. The statue of Charles Aznavour is planned to be installed in a square named after him (in front of the Moscow Cinema).

The ceremony for laying the foundation stone of the monument is expected to take place between October and November 2024. Applicants are required to prepare a scale model of the statue, along with three-dimensional photographs of the model, and submit the necessary application form to the designated email address for participation in the competition.

Proposals will be submitted anonymously to the competition committee, after which there will be an exhibition and evaluation of the models. The author of the winning proposal will receive a monetary award, and the monument will be constructed based on the scale model. Each applicant can submit up to three different model variations.
