This Winter is Unique: Snow Buntings Observed in Various Regions of Armenia
The World Wildlife Fund in Armenia has introduced a rare visitor to the country: the Snow Bunting. This bird is typically found in the forests of northern Eurasia and North America and usually does not reach the Caucasus during its winter migration.
However, in certain years, mass migrations occur, allowing for the sighting of large flocks of Snow Buntings in the fruit trees of this region, far south of their normal wintering grounds. This winter is among those rare instances, and today, these birds can be spotted across various regions of Armenia, including the capital city of Yerevan.
