US Officials Explain Why Border Agreement is Elusive

Democratic Representative Dan Goldman has stated that Republican senators are refusing to agree on a bipartisan deal regarding the southern border, as Donald Trump has "commanded that Joe Biden not be given a political victory in an election year." According to Goldman, Trump benefits from entering the presidential race amidst a "border chaos."

"The only reason this bill was derailed is that Donald Trump does not want Republicans to solve our problems. He wants the problems to remain so he can use them in his campaign," Goldman emphasized.

Earlier, it was reported that representatives from the Democratic and Republican parties in the US Congress were close to reaching an agreement on continuing funding for Ukraine, but the process was interrupted by former President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, American Senator Chris Murphy stated that Republican lawmakers' stance on Ukraine would become clear in the near future. At the same time, he accused the former president of trying to persuade legislators to vote against military aid to Ukraine.
