Heavy Snow and Blizzards Bring Road Closures in Armenia

As of January 27, at 19:30, snowfall has been reported in the regions of Sisian, Vayots Dzor, Artashat, Martuni, Sevan, Hrazdan, Nairi, Aragats, Ani, and Vanadzor. This information has been provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The road section from Gorayk to the area known as "Zanger" is unilaterally closed for vehicles with trailers. The Vanadzor-Dilijan, Ttujur-Navur sections, the Stepanavan mountain pass, the Voskepar highway, and the Dilijan serpentine are closed for vehicles with trailers as well.

Due to severe blizzards, the Vardenyats mountain pass is closed for all types of vehicles. The serpentine roads of Spitak are impassable for vehicles with trailers. Additionally, the roads in the regions of Vanadzor-Step'anavan, Vanadzor-Tumanyan, Vanadzor-Dilijan, Tashir-Gogavan, Ashotzk, Amasia, and Sisian are difficult to navigate.

Blizzard conditions are present in the Ashotzk and Artik regions. Other interstate and national significance highways remain open. Road construction teams are working on cleaning and treating the roads with salt and sand.

To avoid accidents, incidents, and traffic jams, drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
