The Main Cause of the Record Drought in the Amazon is Revealed
A team of scientists from the World Weather Attribution (WWA) research center has concluded that climate change is the primary cause of the record drought in Brazil's Amazon region in 2023. According to a report posted on the organization’s website, human-induced climate change has led to increased temperatures and reduced precipitation, raising the likelihood of this unprecedented drought by 30 times compared to a scenario where the only factor could be the El Niño phenomenon.
Meteorologists from Brazil, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the United States collaborated on the WWA report, comparing modern climate observations with data from the pre-industrial era.
