Ministry of Education Proposes Changing the Name of the Subject 'Armenian History' to 'History of Armenia'

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports is proposing to change the name of the subject 'Armenian History' to 'History of Armenia'. This initiative has been circulated on the unified website for the publication of legal drafts.

According to point 33, subpoint 6, it is stipulated that within the frameworks of 'Patriotism' and 'Society, Social Sciences', in the general state program for grades 5-6, the history, culture, and religion of Armenia and the Armenian people, geography, and areas of social life are presented. Moreover, in point 35 of the curriculum, 'Armenian History' is included as a mandatory subject. By changing the name of the subject from 'Armenian History' to 'History of Armenia', the inconsistency that exists in points 33 and 35 is eliminated. As a result, the name of the subject becomes clearer, under which various historical events related to Armenian statehood and the history of the Armenian people in different periods will be studied,” the brief description of the project states.
