Mayor: 'When buying food for children, we must be confident that it is truly of high quality'

The Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, has addressed the need for improving the quality of work and services in Yerevan. 'This year we will have serious attention on the procurement sector, and we need to seriously revise some ongoing purchases, which have been flagged for their quality and issues by both ourselves and law enforcement,' he stated. 'Our demands regarding the quality of services and products must significantly increase.'

In this context, Avinyan noted that there are cases where the municipality must tighten its procurement requirements. 'For example, when it comes to children's food, we must significantly tighten our requirements. When we are purchasing food for children, we must be sure that it is truly of high quality,' he said, adding that in this case, low prices should not be at the expense of quality.

Speaking about other types of procurements, specifically equipment, he mentioned, 'We must make these as competitive as possible, with an emphasis on quality.' He stressed the need for designers familiar with the urban environment to work on these projects, stating, 'You cannot do everything with the 'Hri kopali' method. Not every designer understands what is acceptable for this city and what is not.'
